Whaplode Church of England Primary School - Inspire, Believe, Achieve

School Smiwwing Charter - in partnership with the ASA Healthy Schools

Our Swimming Pool

Whaplode Swimming Pool Committee was set up in the 1970’s with the aim of raising money to run, organise and maintain our pool. One of its first tasks was to raise funds to improve swimming lessons by commissioning a covered building for the pool, the one that is still there today, and the pool itself was re-built in 1990.

We are a registered charity (Charity No.1056670) and the aims have not changed to this day, and every child has the chance to learn to swim. The pool is used mainly during the summer term where all year groups will swim at least once a week.

Summer Fair

Our Summer Fair was a great success. Thank you to all who supported it, raising much needed funds to keep our fabulous pool up and running.

June Update

The pool is now looking great with a new roof and the new side is complete with windows.

Whaplode Swimming Academy

Whaplode Primary School is registered with the ASA charter mark Taking School Swimming Seriously.  This has been incorporated into the school swimming lessons so pupils can achieve certificates associated with this charter mark.  As well as pupils achieving distance swimming badges they will also achieve The ASA School Swimming Award Certificate.

Year 6

Our current Year 6 worked incredibly hard in the pool last academic year.

Nationally only 50% of children leaving primary school can swim 25m! So we are incredibly of our Year 6’s already.

January Update

A big thank you to everyone for their support at the Christmas Fair, we raised an impressive £750.

After the swimming season ended we were able to replace one side of the swimming pool building with blocks and windows, this is mainly owing to the huge amount of support we receive from parents and carers. We are hopeful that we will be able to replace the second side of the pool building before the swimming season starts.

Once this is completed we will then be renewing the changing rooms, which have served the pool well over the last 20 years, but are now in need of some attention.

We look forward to your continued support in our fundraising efforts.

Thank you Sainsbury's!

Staff, pupils and the school's Swimming Pool Committee would like to say a HUGE thank you to the Sainsbury's Spalding store for their very generous donation of items to support the school's fund raising efforts during the festive season.

Swimming Pool Committee

The Swimming Pool Committee is responsible for the maintenance of the pool and the general day to day running of the pool. Among our regular fundraising activities we organise both the school Christmas and Summer Fairs, with all proceeds from these events go towards the swimming pool.

Currently the committee has a 5 year plan to improve the swimming pool and building.

At the beginning of 2013 the swimming pool went through some major improvements:

Over the next four years we hope to improve the changing rooms, the exterior of the pool building including the roofing and the flooring, as well as dealing with any other situations that may occur. The committee will be working as hard as ever to raise the funds for these improvements.

If you feel that you have any ideas for fundraising or would like to join our small dedicated committee we are always pleased to hear from people. The AGM is held in October. For any more information you can contact the current Chair, Clare Christie on 07949 244817.
